About the encryption of 5GC

When I was using free5gc for some experiments, I found that there seems to be only one K value for user authentication in 5GC, may I ask why the core network does not use asymmetric encryption mechanism?

Hi @cynthia,
I don’t really understand your problem.
What I can tell you is that K value is used to derive another K value like Kausf and so on.
You can check following figure from cablelabs.

And you might also want to know about the procedure of 5G Authentication

free5GC didn’t use other asymmetric encryption because 3GPP already specified the “Authentication Framework” in the spec and free5GC implemented it with reference to the spec.

If you have any questions, welcome to discuss again.
