Static IP requirments for SMF and AMF

I am referring to Running Free5GC on Platform9 Managed Kubernetes - Platform9 for Free5GC instaling on AWS EKS, It is saying we need static IP(“Change the static IP for SMF and AMF”) and for that, you need Calico annotations.

Why do we need static IP ? as long as all CNFs are reachable to each other, is not good? do we have a CNF register like istio dose? why NRF is not taking care here of this static IP issues ? is there any alternative? i am not able to deploy Calico CNI on eks , I am not sure about that, please suggest.

The repository “5gcore” which mentioned in the referring article contains the NFs’ setting yamls for runnning on k8s, and the yamls indicate to download the docker images built by platform9.

As not quite sure about the design purpose, we would suggest you to contact the author about your question to get more information.
